Miller helped develop a new formula for the psychedelic drug jack, first produced in a large, well-stocked lab with Solomon Madison, who was both his professional and domestic partner. Born just before the apocalypse, Miller was raised in a small underground lab, populated with scientists who taught him the fundamentals of biology and chemistry in hopes of developing a cure for the superflu that had ravaged the world.
The underground community lasted for over twenty years, but as the founders died off and supplies dwindled, the few youth who remained decided to go topside and see if their experimental drugs could indeed inoculate people against the flu, only to find that the survivors of the apocalypse had been born resistant to it already. Despondent at the state of the world compared with the relative luxuries of his childhood, Miller returned to the now abandoned lab and began working on psychotropic drugs to ease his depression.
